Gadi Tirosh, a general manager at Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP), has recently been interviewed by a range of media outlets, including The Times of Israel and Bloomberg TV, about Israel’s role in the world’s cyber security landscape.
“As computer attacks get more sophisticated, they are more difficult to prevent,” says Tirosh. “There is a big demand for advanced technology to keep cyber space safe, and we are actively recruiting companies working in this space that have promising technologies.”
Tirosh has been proudly highlighting the city of Beer-Sheva as a growing hub of cyber security innovation. Beer-Sheva is home to Israel’s first cyber security incubator, CyberLabs, established by JVP in cooperation with BG Negev, the technology transfer company of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
CyberLabs will set up shop in Beer-Sheva’s Advanced Technologies Park (ATP), adjacent to BGU’s Marcus Family Campus in Beer-Sheva.
Plus, the Israeli army’s elite technology units are moving into the ATP, including the main cyber security training center of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
“We’re tapping into the best talent in academia and the military and building companies around them,” says Tirosh.
High tech companies like EMC, NESS Technologies, Oracle, and Deutsche Telekom – which already operates its only lab outside of Germany at BGU – will also have offices in the ATP.
BGU was the founding force behind the ATP, in collaboration with the Israeli government and the Beer-Sheva municipality.
“Beer-Sheva, with its high-tech environment Research created by Ben-Gurion University, the IDF’s large technology facilities, and international R&D facilities, will provide a very supportive environment Research for our start-ups,” says Tirosh.
