Robotics is only the beginning for BGU and the high-tech industry in Beer-Sheva.
BGU is widely considered a leader in the field of robotics. It is known for interdisciplinary research and development (R&D) of robotic systems with medical, agricultural, industrial, and homeland security applications. Now with the opening of Beer-Sheva’s Advanced Technologies Park (ATP) next to the Marcus Family Campus, BGU is the center of Israel’s “Silicon Wadi.” Companies such as Hewlett Packard, IBM, EMC, and Deutsche Telekom opened R&D centers in the ATP or at BGU, leveraging the University’s R&D expertise and hiring its graduates.
“BGU is developing robots to benefit humans and improve the safety and security of the State of Israel and the world."
– Dr. Amir Shapiro, director of BGU’s Robotics Lab
