On Sunday, October 21, 2012, the 2012-2013 academic year opened at BGU for more than 19,000 students. Most are at the main Marcus Family Campus in Beer-Sheva, while around 700 are studying at the Eilat campus and another 170 are at the Sde Boker campus.

The size of the incoming undergraduate class remains steady, while the number of those studying for advanced degrees has increased.

An additional NIS 1,400,000 has been allocated to scholarship recipients, allowing BGU to provide for students in need, while increasing merit scholarships to students with excellent grades.

The University has five faculties or colleges as they are known in the United States.

The largest are the Faculty of Engineering Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences with more than 6,000 students each.

Approximately 2,400 students study in the Faculty of Health Sciences and 2,300 are enrolled in the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management.

There are also around 2,300 students in the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

In recent years, the number of students studying for interdisciplinary degrees, combining studies in the natural and engineering sciences has expanded. There are now more than 100 undergraduate students enrolled in such programs.
