Santa Barbara Film Festival favorite and the year’s “great documentary” (Film Threat). “Who Are The Marcuses?” uncovers a mysterious Long Island couple whose half-a-billion-dollar gift inspires peace and climate action through water technology in Israel. Holocaust survivors Lottie and Howard Marcus, an unassuming couple who first settled in Great Neck, New York, and retired to a modest two-bedroom apartment in San Diego, California, bequeathed a half-billion dollars to Ben Gurion University in 2016 – the largest single charitable donation in Israel’s history. An amazing story of how two “ordinary” people made an extraordinary impact.
This screening will feature a talkback with the film’s Executive Producer, Marc Bennett. Followed by a light reception in the library.
