Recently tenured as a full professor and currently spending a sabbatical year at Princeton University, Prof. Avidan has been affiliated with BGU since 2006. Educated in Tel Aviv and Hebrew Universities, even as a student, then as an instructor, she received numerous prestigious grants and awards for excellence in research and was selected for postdoctoral studies at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, 2002-2005.
Prof. Avidan’s scientific discipline ̶̶ cognitive neuroscience research ̶̶ focuses on the psychological neural properties of the human visual system. Her research is designed to elucidate brain mechanisms that give rise to perception of faces, objects and scenes for visually guided behavior.
