Prof. Guy Ben-Porat chairs the Department of Politics and Government at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. His expertise is in comparative politics and public policy. He is the co-author of the recently released Policing Citizens: Minority Policy in Israel and the author of several other books, including Between State and Synagogue: The Secularization of Contemporary Israel, which won the Yonatan Shapiro Award for Best Book in Israel Studies from the Association for Israel Studies and the Gideon Doron Best Book Award from the Israeli Political Science Association. A popular and respected teacher, he has won several faculty and teaching awards from Ben-Gurion University. Prof. Ben-Porat received his BA in political science and psychology from Tel-Aviv University and his Ph.D. in political science from Johns Hopkins University.
