BGU’s Third iGEM Team to Compete in Boston

BGU’s third iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) team is excited to be flying to Boston at the end of September to compete in the 2015 Giant iGEM Jamboree.

The student team is hoping to triumph at this international competition that promotes the field of synthetic biology.

One of the fundamental problems of cancer therapies is their inability to distiguish between cancerous and healthy cells.

The synthetic biology cancer therapy that the team is developing, called “Boomerang,” can be designed according to the specific characteristics of a patient’s tumor — paving the way for personalized medicine.
