JTA — BGU is one of two Israeli universities that took part in the inaugural cohort of a new Birthright program offering trip participants academic credit.

Some 50 students from colleges and universities across the United States participated in the program in May, which tied an immersive educational experience directly into the Birthright itinerary.

Students who attended the Ben-Gurion University program studied “Global Warming, Renewable Energy and the Desert Ecosystem,” which included field research in the coral reef in Eilat.

Participation in the two-week course entitled students up to three academic credits.

Students interested in longer term study abroad at BGU can enroll in the Ginsberg-Ingerman Overseas Student Program.
