Ben-Gurion University took yet another exponential climb in the QS World University Rankings, moving up 33 places from last year to take the 259th spot. This is no small feat considering BGU’s youth and the fact that over 3,000 universities were considered for inclusion.

“The rise of approximately 125 places in the rankings over the past five years is testament to the dramatic and impressive progress the University has made in recent years, especially relative to its young age,” says BGU Rector Prof. Zvi HaCohen.

BGU stands out in several categories that comprise the overall ranking. The University is ranked 148th in international faculty and 167th in citations per faculty.

Three BGU faculties (colleges) are ranked among the top 400: Engineering Sciences, Health Sciences and Natural Sciences.

Given the current trends, it is difficult to not feel optimistic about the future prestige of BGU.

“Notwithstanding our relatively short history (BGU is only 45 years old), we are increasingly acknowledged to be among the finest universities in the world, and while 259 is our best ranking yet, our sights are set far higher,” says Doron Krakow, Americans for Ben-Gurion University executive vice president.
