The Jerusalem Post — Prof. Rivka Carmi, M.D., has come a long way from being raised in modest circumstances in Zichron Ya’acov , one of Israel’s first settlements south of Haifa, by her widowed mother to being honored by Queen Elizabeth II as an Honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE).
Prof. Carmi, the third-term president of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and former dean of BGU’s Faculty of Health Sciences, was cited for her work to deepen scientific and academic relations between the U.K. and Israel.
In an extensive interview with The Jerusalem Post, the pediatrician, medical geneticist and all around woman of distinction shares the story of her remarkable life journey.
