Dr. Paula Kabalo is the director of BGU’s Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel and Zionism and the Woodman-Scheller Israel Studies International Program. Located on the Sde Boker campus of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, the Institute is home to the Ben-Gurion Archives, the equivalent of a Presidential Library in the United States. The Archives house David Ben-Gurion’s extensive collection of personal papers, diaries and letters. With access to these materials, Paula has great insight into Ben-Gurion’s thoughts and dreams for development in the Negev. She and her husband, Shlomo Kabalo, a staff member of the Swiss Institute for Dryland Environmental and Energy Research at the Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, make their home in Sde Boker. Paula and her family made aliyah from Argentina. She received her Ph.D. from the School of Jewish Studies at Tel Aviv University.
