THREE DAYS OF NEGEV IN NYC

New York City: October 27 to 29, 2019

Two weeks away, our national annual meeting—Three Days of Negev in NYC—brings together friends and board members from all over the United States. At our Americans for Ben-Gurion University Dinner Party on Sunday, October 27, honoring BGU’s former chair of its board of governors,  Alex Goren, our guest speaker will be Joseph Sakran, M.D., M.P.H., M.P.A., who will address the topic of our time—gun control! Dr. Sakran has an amazing life story that led him to medicine, and I can’t wait to hear what this Johns Hopkins trauma surgeon and graduate from BGU’s Medical School for International Health has to share with us. For more information, download this flyer. Or, register here.

With the rise in NFL concussions, autism, Alzheimer’s, and more, brain research is big news this year. Our BGU Symposium, “Breaking the Barriers of Brain Science,” will be moderated by BGU President Prof. Danny Chamovitz and feature three of Israel’s top brain experts, including Prof. Alon Friedman, whose research on the “Havana Syndrome” (the brain deterioration experienced by American and Canadian diplomats in Cuba) is presently receiving worldwide media attention. If you know anyone struggling with brain problems, including autism, dementia or head trauma, please invite their friends and family to attend with you. Download this flyer.

And don’t miss the opening plenary speaker of our board meeting: the dynamic Tal Keinan, one of today’s most thoughtful venture capitalists and the author of God Is in the Crowd: 21st Century Judaism. Tal’s exciting transformation from American citizen to Israeli pilot to young global economic leader could very well change your ideas about the importance of Jewish identity and its continuity in the world today. Read more about Tal.

MID-WINTER MEETING

Silicon Valley: February 9 to 11, 2020

Left your heart in San Francisco? We’re bringing the heart of Silicon Wadi to Silicon Valley for our 2020 Mid-Winter Meeting. Enjoy three days of learning, touring and fun against the beautiful backdrop of the California mountains on the shores of a tranquil lagoon. It will also be a great chance to see sparks fly when BGU experts reveal their latest advances in robotics and artificial intelligence. For more details.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS PRE-TRIP

Oxford, England: May 12 to 14, 2020

Did you know there was a secret Jewish history of Oxford, England? Prior to BGU’s 50th Board of Governors celebration, BGU President Prof. Danny Chamovitz will lead us on an exclusive, event-filled, three-day trip to one of England’s most prestigious universities. Besides special lectures and presentations, we’ll enjoy a visit to Shakespeare’s home in Stratford-upon-Avon, a special performance honoring BGU’s jubilee by the Oxford Philharmonic, and exciting exchanges with the local Jewish community. Details are still being hashed out, but in the meantime download this flyer for more information.

BOARD OF GOVERNORS: Beer-Sheva and the Negev

May 17 to 21, 2020

Then we’re off to Beer-Sheva and the Negev for our biggest party of the year—BGU’s 50th Anniversary Board of Governors! Expect world-renown names for the honorary doctorates, rare academic engagements and parties galore! It will be a great time to honor all that BGU has accomplished in the last 50 years and an opportunity to look ahead to a prosperous future, propelled by David Ben-Gurion’s vision that science and technology would one day flourish in the Negev. For more information download this flyer.

Whether you are a long-time donor or just getting to know us, please join us on these adventures of a lifetime—AABGU-style.

Because…the future of Israel is in the Negev. And the future is now!
