Prof. Zvi Reich, a visiting scholar at Penn’s Annenberg School of Communication on sabbatical from BGU, will speak at 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Prof. Zvi Reich is a senior lecturer in BGU’s Department of Communication Studies and a former journalist. He is on sabbatical this year as a visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication.

Prof. Reich’s research interests include journalism studies, news sources, sociology of news, technology and journalism, crisis communication, emergency communication, risk communication, user generated content.

He received his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (respectively in 1996, 1999, 2004). During 1983 and 1998 he served as a senior editor in different positions at Yedioth Aharonoth daily newspaper.  His completed his post-doctoral studies at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Dr. Reich authored and co-authored four books including Sourcing the News (Hampton Press, 2009) and published numerous papers and book chapters. He serves a board member of the Israeli Press Council and of the Presidium of the Press Council.
