Alon Ben-Gurion, the grandson of Ben-Gurion University’s namesake and first prime minister of Israel, David Ben-Gurion, will share amazing recollections of his childhood with his grandfather and fascinating stories about Ben-Gurion’s interactions with world leaders as the young State of Israel was founded and developed.

Accompanying these stories are rare photos from his grandfather’s personal archives, depicting meetings with influential diplomats and politicians from the time period. This promises to be an extraordinary evening of inspirational storytelling, as guests will gain unique insight into Israel’s past from someone who experienced Israel’s founding firsthand.

Alon was born in Israel in 1951, the son of Amos and Mary Ben-Gurion. He grew up in Tel Aviv and Haifa and became a paratrooper in the IDF. Alon was severely wounded in the Yom Kippur war. After his recovery, Alon attended Tel Aviv University and received a B.A. in social sciences, followed by a master’s in hospitality management from Cornell University.

For the last 40 years Alon has worked in hotel management in various countries including Israel, England, Belgium and the United States. He is married to Anastasia, a fashion designer and associate professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. They have two daughters.

In addition to his work, Alon has traveled on behalf of various organizations, speaking about the legacy of his grandfather.
