Prof. Zvi HaCohen is responsible for academic affairs at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. As the new academic year is about to star and some 20,00 students begin their studies, he will discuss new programs and projects going on at BGU.

The incumbent of the Maks and Rochelle Etingin Chair in Desert Research at the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, on the Sde Boker campus, Prof. HaCohen serves as a member of the University’s Intellectual Property Committee and has filled many positions at the Blaustein Institutes. He has published dozens of scientific papers, been awarded research grants totaling several million dollars, and holds a large number of patents.

Born in 1947 in Cluj, Romania, Professor HaCohen holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in chemistry from Bar-Ilan University and completed his doctorate in organic chemistry at the Weizmann Institute of Science, followed by post-doctorate work at Harvard Medical School.
