Shir Lee Kuzahi received a bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science at Ben-Gurion University and is a licensed medical laboratory technician. Kuzahi is continuing to study at BGU for a Master’s degree in Medical Science. Under the supervision of Dr. Clay Davis, head of the Shraga Segal Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Genetics, her timely research focuses on the Zika virus, its effect on embryonic development, and interaction with innate immune response in mid-gestational mouse embryos.
Netanya-born Shir Lee began her BGU studies after first serving in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for two years. Her position as spokesperson for the Intelligence Corps brought her in contact with representatives from the world over, presenting and introducing them to the State of Israel.
Shir Lee’s mother, who works in the high-tech industry, taught a course in the Master’s program of the BGU Department of Business Administration. Her father is a businessman, and her sister Perri currently serves in the IDF. Please join us at the home of, Violet and Richard Zeitlin, the proud grandparents.

A Ph.D. student at BGU’s Department of Health Systems Management, Yannai Kranzler is also the senior coordinator of Israel’s national program to promote healthy lifestyle for the Israel Ministry of Health. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Communications from Bar Ilan University, and an M.A., with honors, from the Federmann School of Public Policy and Government at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His doctoral research, “A Community of Bureaucratic Activists’ Struggle for Health in All Policies,” is being supervised by Prof. Nadav Davidovitch.
Kranzler has extensive experience in the field of public policy, emphasizing individual and community health initiatives. This has included teaching at the university level and on behalf of the Ministry of Health, presenting at conferences, and publishing in professional journals. He is the winner of numerous awards including the Innovation in Public Service Prize of the National Civil Service Commission. Kranzler’s volunteer activities include the “Heart of Jerusalem” Community Council, which has undertaken such projects as integrating Eritrean refugees and child-led redesign of local playgrounds.
This summer, Kranzler is becoming a “neighbor” in Highland Park, NJ, so that his wife, Chana, can begin postdoctoral research at Rutgers University. He is hoping to continue his doctoral work through BGU’s collaboration with Drexel University.
