Prof. Yaniv Poria is academic director of BGU’s Eilat Campus and chairman of the Department of Hotel and Tourism Management at BGU’s Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management. His research includes analysis of the management of heritage site interpretation, as well as the impact of visitors’ experiences at heritage tourist sites; special population segments often ignored in tourism literature, including members of the LGBTQ community and people with disabilities; and sex in tourism.

Prof. Nadav Shashar, senior lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences and coordinator of the Marine Biology and Biotechnology Program at BGU’s Eilat Campus, heads the joint BGU-Dolphin Reef Laboratory. A program designed and developed by Prof. Shashar, he and colleagues from universities in Jordan implemented the placement of artificial coral reefs in the Red Sea to reduce environmental pressure on the region’s natural reef and restore marine life. His lab also focuses on sensory ecology, examining what information is available to dolphins and other marine animals and how they make use of this information.

A BGU alumnus and member of the fifth cohort of Americans for Ben-Gurion University’s Zin Fellows Leadership Program, Or Haviv leads the creation of early stage growth and investment platforms, generating high net worth portfolios and investments at Arieli Ventures, a New York-based holdings company. At Eilat Hub, Israel’s most southern innovation ecosystem, Or is responsible for developing and managing a burgeoning high-tech industry.
