Neta Pulvermacher was born and raised on Kibbutz Lehavot Habashan in northern Israel. A dancer and choreographer, she graduated the Juilliard School, and holds an MFA from Hollins University and an M.A. from Teachers College/Columbia University. Going to New York City right after army service, to study at Juilliard, she remained there for 31 years, directing a modern dance company that she created, prior to returning to Israel in 2013. Currently, Pulvermacher is a professor of choreography at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance; for the past three years, she also has been serving as the artistic director of the BGU Dance Company. A unique and phenomenal company within a leading research university, it engages students in dancing, creating and performing, while pursuing their degree programs.
