Prof. Guy Ben-Porat is presently an associate professor in BGU’s Department of Politics and Government, having taught in the University’s Department of Public Policy and Administration from 2002 to 2016. Prof. Ben-Porat received his Ph.D. in political science from Johns Hopkins University. His book, Between State and Synagogue: The Secularization of Contemporary Israel, examines questions of religion and state in Israel; it won the Shapiro Best Book Award, Israel Studies Association and the Israeli Political Science Association Best Book Award. Prof. Ben-Porat is spending his 2017 to 2018 sabbatical year as a senior visiting fellow at Brown University.
