Leadership, Awards & Events

On Sunday, the 2013-2014 academic year began at BGU, welcoming close to 20,000 students to their “home away from home” in the Negev.

BGU students were greeted back on campus by the University's new camel mascot.

BGU students were greeted back on campus by the University’s new camel mascot.

This year, BGU is offering a number of new academic programs including a unique interdisciplinary school of brain sciences; a new major in urban and regional planning; a pre-med track for students who applied to medical school but weren’t accepted; and a new double major in medicine and biomedical engineering.

The University is also maintaining its high-tech edge by offering a new master’s degree in data mining and business intelligence, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in cyber security.

Along with Beer-Sheva’s new Advanced Technologies Park adjacent to the Marcus Family Campus, BGU’s returning student body will also be wowed by the brand-new Ruth and Heinz Horst Deichmann Classroom and Computer Lab building.

The construction process was tricky because the building had to be erected within an already crowded campus and connected to the existing adjoining buildings.

Be sure to stop by and see this new building on your next visit to BGU.
